Bakamatsu Era Wakizashi short sword in elegant Koshirae

Bakamatsu Era ( circa 1650 A.D.) Wakizashi in elegant darker, reddish koshirae with unique metal kojiri end-cap on Saya scabbard’s tip like a Tachi style fitting. Eso period wSamurai Family Kamon Crest fuchi kashira Kodogu set. Menuki handle ornaments are of an intricate Golden Ryu Dragons on light brown tsuka wrapped handle. This Blade is in good condition and polish with no kizu or flaws and is unique in that the top third narrows past the middle of the blade’s entire length ( top third usually being the main cutting portion of the blade ) in terms of its kasane thickness lightening the blade which helps make lighter in weight and faster and more nimble to wield. You have to see it and hold it in your hand to understand and appreciate its design and craftsmanship. A unique and elegant blade from the Bakumatsu Era. Cheers, Hamaki
